Coffee cup, Qianlong c.1775, with the crest of Le Mesurier of Alderney
The crest on this coffee cup is of Le Mesurier, hereditary governors of Alderney in the Channel Islands, for whom at least six Chinese armorial services were made between 1775 and 1795.
The initials J.L.M. indicate that this was probably for Governor John Le Mesurier, who died in 1793.
